Love this reflection Rachel. I think it is super hard as a self employed person to know when to draw the line. Believing that it will all still be there when you return is hard to do but necessary! As you say, people are kind.
Thank you for commenting Jules - and yes, absolutely. We have to recognise how important it is to step back and look after ourselves, and I mean that both in a broad sense but also with boundary setting day to day.
I’ve read this a few times and honestly, it’s such a welcome relief. I’m definitely someone who needs to take a step back, as it’s dawned on me that I’m somewhat of a productivity addict. I understand the importance of rest, but at the same time, I feel like I have to be constantly ‘doing something’, especially as a self-employed person. Your piece has definitely made me think about some changes that I’m going to make going forward.
Thank you Lisa - I've had a lot of incredible feedback from people very personally on this post, which feels very rewarding, but also reassuring. Likewise a productivity addict here, which is most certainly a note of pride, but needs to come with remembering self-protection/care alongside. Sending solidarity for that!
Love this. Love you. Love that you care enough to share these wise words.
