A day in the life of a sustainable fashion consultant
Not everyday looks like biodynamic farming, but just sometimes, it does.
I have just got back from the most glorious day yesterday at Waltham Place, a biodynamic farm in the English countryside courtesy of a field trip and volunteering day organised by Arizona Muse's DIRT charity and sustainable footwear brand, Allbirds. It was heavenly - rejuvenating, inspiring, educational, all of the above. We planted marigolds that will be used as natural dye for a fashion brand - the first in the world to receive Demeter’s biodynamic dye certification.
Meanwhile, last week I went to the British Fashion Council's Cicular Fashion Innovation Network interim update; the day before I was at the House of Commons about a meeting on extended producer responsibility (EPR) policy. I don't say any of this to gloat about the incredible things this career can sometimes afford in a given week, but more because I realise that these are the only bits we actually share on social media about it.
In reality, the life of a sustainable fashion consultant like me is wildly different to these pockets of inspiration or industry networking opportunities. So I thought I would lay it out.
